Yaru Yang Completes Her Master's Thesis Defense
Yaru Yang, a master’s student who joined in 2021, recently passed her thesis defense with excellent results. Her thesis is entitled Fusion of Precipitation Products in Typical High Mountain Asia Catchments and Improvements in Runoff Simulation.
The thesis evaluated the statistical and hydrological simulation performance of multiple precipitation products in High Mountain Asia, identifying their strengths and limitations. It also used machine learning to merge high-accuracy precipitation products and verified improvements in hydrological simulation, particularly flood simulation. The work provides a practical workflow for flood simulation and forecasting in alpine mountains.
During her studies, Yaru Yang published two first-author papers in the Journal of Hydrology: Regional Studies and China Scientific Data.
